Violet’s Hafṭarah portion is from the book of Isaiah and focuses on the value of mazon, feeding the hungry. She will be supporting the South Lakes High School PTSA Food Pantry for her mitzvah project.
The South Lakes High School (SLHS) PTSA Food Pantry is designed to help close the hunger and nutrition gap for the 30% of SLHS students who are on free and reduced lunch (approximately 730 students) and their families. Students can “shop” for food and toiletries and families can participate in the curbside pick up program. Pantry services are available for South Lakes students and families, as well as families throughout the SLHS pyramid. During the second week of school in 2023, the pantry served 120 student shoppers and 170 families through their curbside service. These numbers are expected to rise as the school year progresses. Since it opened in April 2017, the pantry has distributed 1.3 million pounds of food and toiletries.
Please join Violet in supporting the SLHS PTSA Food Pantry by bringing a donation to her bat mitzvah (see list below) or making a monetary donation.
